PROGRESSIVE PERMANENT HAIR REDUCTION
Laser Hair Removal, was first introduced at the spa in 2003. The ND-YAG laser system provides excellent results for individuals with all skin colors, most hair pigments (excluding grey and white hair)
The Laser emits a wavelength of 1064 nanometers which is absorbed by the hairs high concentration of melanin (The pigment which gives the skin color). This melanin absorption produces a reduction that elevates the temperature of the hair to 160 degrees centigrade pending a fraction of a second (of 4 to 10 milliseconds) and destroys the papilla (source of production of hair) this effect is permanent when the hair is in the active growth stage phase (the only phase that the hair is attached to the papilla)
Hair passes through 4 phases of growth, early, active, regression and resting. All hairs are not found at the same moment in active growth phase (the only phase possible to achieve permanent hair removal). For this reason to ensure that all hair is treated in an active growth phase, this procedure is considered progressive. The permanent reduction is achieved with a number of sessions over a period of 1 year or less. (dependant on body area) This depilation can be maintained indefinitely. The body is in a constant evolution we are born with all the hair follicles, they can be stimulated by different factors at any time. (medications, hormonal changes, etc). For this reason, laser depilation may have to be preformed in some instances, over a period of time, making this procedure long-term.
WHY ND-YAG COMPARED TO OTHER LASERS
Let’s see the facts…
The wavelength of other laser beam is from 600 to 800 nanometers (laser types: Ruby, Alexandrite and Diodes) are absorbed not only by melanin of the hair but also by melanin of the skin. The depth of melanin of the skin being at 2mm. from the surface, in the epidermis, this is not a good treatment option for people who tan/are tanned and people of ethnic background.
Depilation without secondary effects
The advantage of the ND-YAG is that it does not provoke un desirable secondary effect.
THE PROCEDURE
1. Technician must adjust parameters of the laser beam particularly for the hair color to be treated for each client.
2. Technician then proceeds with treatment on the surface to be treated. Treatment can last from 15min. to 2 hours., depending of the treated area.
3. To decrease discomfort cooling of the area is applied during the treatment.
RESULTS OVER TIME
1. In the laser treatment session all of the hairs are treated. Only a certain percentage of the hairs will reappear.
2. Within the monthly or bi-weekly period (depending of the body part) of treatment the percentage of hairs will decrease.
NOTE: The total procedure normally takes approximately 1 year or less to complete.
CONCLUSION
* Compared to electrolysis, laser depilation is much effective and precise and with less side effects.
* Laser depilation cost over 5-year period is even more economical or equal to waxing. And is permanent reduction!
WHITE & GRAY HAIR
Only White and Gray hair are not receptive to the laser beam. If they are still a concern for the individual they can be removed by other method of depilation.
